About us
Two founders. One clear focus.
Built on deep specialism, honest relationships, and a genuine understanding of the data and AI market.
Where we started
Dunbar Brown Group was founded by Andrew Dunbar and Mark Brown — two recruiters who spent years working inside large agencies before deciding to do things differently.
We started with a simple belief: that specialist recruitment in data and AI should be led by people who genuinely understand the market, not generalists working from a job board.
That belief shapes everything we do — from the conversations we have with candidates to the way we partner with in-house teams on their most critical hires.
“We built DBG because we believed the market deserved better — more considered, more specialist, more honest.”
How we operate
Specialism over volume
We focus on a defined set of disciplines and do them well. We don't try to cover every market — we go deep in the ones we know.
Considered introductions
We don't flood inboxes. Every introduction we make is deliberate — matched on skills, culture, and long-term fit.
Honest conversations
We tell clients and candidates what we actually think. That means giving direct feedback, even when it's not what people want to hear.
Long-term relationships
We measure success in years, not placements. The relationships we build are meant to last well beyond a single hire.
Meet the team
Andrew Dunbar
Data & AI Recruitment
Andrew founded DBG after a career placing senior data and AI professionals across the UK and US. He works with both early-stage businesses and established enterprises, focusing on the hires that shape a team's direction — from first data engineers to VP-level leadership.
His network spans data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML — built over years of specialist work in a market he knows well.
LinkedInMark Brown
GTM & Commercial Recruitment
Mark co-founded DBG to bring the same level of specialism to go-to-market hiring that the data side of the business applies to technical roles. He works with data and AI vendors on the commercial hires that drive growth — sales, pre-sales, customer success, and marketing leadership.
Mark has spent his career in the data and AI vendor space, giving him a grounded understanding of what good GTM talent looks like at every stage of a business.
LinkedInAndrew Kier
Legal Tech Recruitment
Andrew is a specialist recruiter in the legal technology space, with a focus on the roles that matter most to law firms and legal tech businesses as they modernise their operations. He works across both the vendor and in-house sides of the market — placing talent into major law firms in London and New York, as well as the legal tech businesses supplying and building the tools they rely on
His understanding of both environments gives him a rounded view of where talent moves and what drives hiring decisions in this sector.
LinkedInInnes Martin
R&D & Innovation Recruitment
Innes focuses on the research and innovation end of the data and AI market — placing scientists, researchers, and technical leads into roles where they can do their best work. He works with both commercial businesses and research-led organisations.
His background gives him a genuine appreciation for the difference between applied and research-oriented roles, and what motivates the people who fill them.
LinkedInColl McCallum
